Special Interests

Research Interests

Dr. Frankel has active clinical and translational research programs in acute lung injury and interstitial lung disease. He is presently a co-investigator on a number of NIH-sponsored clinical trials for the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome including the ARDS Network. He is a core member of the University of Colorado Critical Care Consortium. In addition to his work in ARDS, Dr. Frankel is an active member of the interstitial lung disease program and participates in clinical trials evaluating novel therapies for the treatment of interstitial lung disease and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Finally, the dramatic and evolving changes in health care delivery have led to Dr. Frankel more recently to turn his attention to studying the delivery of efficacious and effective care in the hospital and ICU setting.
