Research Interests
Dr.
Frankel has active clinical and translational research programs in
acute lung injury and interstitial lung disease. He is presently a
co-investigator for the prestigious ARDSnet at the University of
Colorado (HealthONE/Rose Medical Center site), and the IPFnet at
National Jewish Health. He is a core member of the University of
Colorado Critical Care Consortium and is actively studying the natural
history and pathogenesis of acute exacerbations of fibrotic lung
disease, specifically, looking at the role of alveolar epithelial cell
senescence and epigenetics in the progression of idiopathic pulmonary
fibrosis. Finally, the dramatic and evolving changes in health care
delivery have led to Dr. Frankel more recently to turn his attention to
studying the delivery of efficacious and effective care in the hospital
and ICU setting.
