“Winter’s Evening” Dinner Dance Breaks Record, Raising $3 Million forNational Jewish Health

Real Estate and ConstructionIndustries in New York Donate to Lung Cancer Care and Research at Nation’s #1 Respiratory Hospital


NEW YORK—Members of the real estate andconstruction industries in New York, led by Marc Holliday, ChiefExecutive Officer of SL Green Realty Corp., raised more than $3 million forlung-cancer research and care at National Jewish Health, during the annual “Winter’sEvening” Dinner Dance December 10, topping the previous best forthe event.

“Marc told us that he wanted to make this the mostsuccessful event ever, and he did,” said Lisa Tadiri, Vice President ofDevelopment for National Jewish Health. “It is especially gratifying to see howthe real estate and construction industries stepped up to contribute during a still-challenging economic environment.”

Holliday, theevening’s honoree, was presented the National Jewish Health 2011Humanitarian Award during the event at the Grand Hyatt New York. The Humanitarian Award recognizes individuals who have madesignificant civic and charitable contributions. They have lived theirlives according to a doctrine that promotes the dignity and worth of allindividuals. 

The money raised that night will establish theHolliday Memorial Fund for Lung Cancer Research, which provides care for lungcancer patients and supports lung cancer research. The previous fundraising record for the eventwas $2.57 million.

National Jewish Health has a world-class teamof clinicians, researchers and support staff to diagnose, prevent and treat lungcancer. Radiologists and interventional pulmonologists use cutting-edge technology to find andtreat lung cancer at its earliest, most treatable  stages. Researchers are making discoveriesabout genetics and molecular pathways that can help personalize treatment andfind potential new therapies. To learn more, read about the Lung Cancer Center.

The 1,300 guests at the Winter’s Eve includedluminaries from the real estate industry. Dinner leadership reflects the broad support that National Jewish Health has enjoyed fordecades from the New Yorkreal estate community.

The hefty roster of executive and dinner committeemembers was led by dinner chairmen Stephen L. Green and Andrew W.Mathias. Honorary chairman was Morton Holliday.
