Literacy:

In Mrs. Kangley's literacy class (cotaught with Mr. Lederer), students use a multisensory approach to improve reading, spelling, and comprehension skills.  A structured writing program helps students improve writing skills as they expand their paragraphs into essays.

Math:

Students in Mrs. Kangley's math class learn a variety of skills from computation of decimals to word problems and algebra.  During the second half of the year, students concentrate on fractions.

Science:

Mrs. Kangley loves science and enjoys having her students use a hands-on approach to learn scientific principles.  The science class focuses on earth science and geology and includes units on rocks and minerals, weather and climate, and historical geology.  All students at Kunsberg in grades 5-8 enhance their science education with a three-day trip to CalWood, a conservation and environmental education center near Jamestown, Colorado.

Social Studies:

Students in Mrs. Kangley's social studies class study the western hemisphere and its history and geography.  All students complete a number of research projects and at least one PowerPoint presentation based on the concepts learned in this class.  The instruction includes units on North America, Middle and South America, and Europe.
