Volunteer Testimonials
Stan Krautman
Adult Clinic Volunteer
Being a native of Denver, I have walked past National Jewish Medical and Research Center on my way to junior and senior high school. Family members, friends and ex-students have confirmed that National Jewish is an outstanding respiratory hospital.
Through volunteering, I have seen firsthand how doctors, nurses and patients interact in the Adult Clinic.
They are extremely professional and caring people who are human!
There is a nurse whose son is on an aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf, doctors who are chocolaholics and unit coordinators who are fun. This group of unique individuals has made me feel very comfortable, and most of all, they give me work and responsibility.

Kunsberg School Volunteer
At my son’s Tae Kwan Do class a few years back, I was talking with another mom about our sons’ asthma experiences, and she told me about the Kunsberg School at National Jewish. Because I had experienced some problems with the handling of my son’s medications at the school he was attending, I was exhilarated to learn about the program.
I immediately called and made an appointment to visit and take a tour of Kunsberg. My son’s father and I both felt that the presence of two nurses at all times, along with the curriculum and philosophy the school has, would mean that our son would be in great hands. He was in first grade that first year; now he is in the seventh grade. He loves the school and so do I.
I truly enjoy volunteering with all the children and the wonderful staff. I have worked with the Library Media Specialist in the library since I retired after 30 years in the communications field. Despite having to re-enter the workforce for financial reasons, I still volunteer with the library each month and will continue to do so even after my son transitions to public middle school next year. The work itself is diverse and fun and I love being close to my son and seeing how he does in his classes. I think he enjoys my being there too!!
