As a not-for-profit corporation focused on leading-edge clinical activities and medical research, National Jewish Health requires additional revenue beyond that from donations, grants and patient fees. Through the Business Development and New Business Opportunities unit within the Health Initiatives Department, National Jewish Health has developed a process for building new related business activities that generate these additional revenues.
Projects
The activities undertaken by this unit vary from time to time and include efforts to build new business opportunities from within many other departments of the institution. We have developed a number of laboratory, clinical and call center revenue generating service businesses and products.
Disease Management
& Wellness Programs
National Jewish has an established successful track record in offering wellness programs nationally for more than 20 years, including telephonic disease management programs for asthma, COPD and smoking cessation. All of these programs have been medically successful, producing positive clinical outcomes for the clients and their participants, and they also have been associated with a revenue stream to support the activities of the institution.
National Jewish Health is now a provider of wellness programs, both smoking cessation and wight management and fitness programs, to State Departments of Health, health plans, self insured employers and third party health administrators. Although based in Colorado, we provide services to clients throughout the United States, primarily providing telephonic and Internet enabled behavioral and lifestyle change counseling.

ADx New Operational Plan
A new vision and operational plan to enhance our Advanced Diagnostic Laboratories (ADx) was recently developed. The ADx at National Jewish Health is a leading national referral lab for routine and specialized testing in immunologic and respiratory diseases with clients across the United States and throughout the world.

Family Air Care® Indoor Allergens and Mold Test Kit
With the involvement of the Division of Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences, the Family Air Care® Indoor Allergens and Mold Test Kit was developed to provide customers a scientifically validated tool to measure and improve the air quality in their home. Sneezing, coughing, postnasal drip, and itchy eyes are often caused by an increased sensitivity to certain allergens. Minimizing exposure to these allergens is a crucial step for asthma and allergy sufferers to control their symptoms. Knowing the current levels of the most significant allergens and then reducing them can lead to a significant decrease in symptoms, less need for medication, and a higher quality of life. Testing is performed by our Advanced Diagnostic Laboratories (ADx).
