Expanded Research

The Center for Environmental Health Research and Service

Our nation faces a significant challenge for the 21st century: how to safeguard the health of the American public from environmental hazards. We are faced with the daunting reality that many Americans, particularly the working poor, middle class, minorities, children and the elderly, are exposed daily to occupational and environmental toxins that may cause major lung, heart, immune and allergic diseases, disability and untimely death.

The new building will enable National Jewish Health to create The Center for Environmental Health Research and Service. This Center — funded in part by the federal government — will work to identify the causes of environmental and occupational diseases, provide a regional and national clinical resource for patients with suspected environmental and occupational disorders and develop innovative ways of linking basic science research, clinical patient information and epidemiologic research to develop practical ways to prevent environmental and occupational diseases.

Asthma, Allergy and Immunology Research

The new building will provide new, more functional laboratories optimally designed for the most current research needs. Researchers in the areas of asthma/ allergy, immunology and inflammation will occupy laboratories in the new building. These areas are increasingly vital as more people struggle with these and related conditions. They hold promise for new breakthroughs in asthma, severe allergies, COPD/emphysema, cancer, autoimmune diseases such as lupus, occupational and environmental disorders and many other serious diseases.

Research Lab

Building modern laboratories and purchasing state-of-the-art research equipment will allow us to expand our research programs, which will benefit patients across the country and around the world.
