What do we do? The Program in Cell Biology is an interdepartmental program whose goal is to foster and support cutting-edge basic and translational research into the biology and physiology of lung cells, innate and adaptive immune cells, and the signaling pathways that regulate their function.
Current basic research interests include investigation into the mechanisms of lung injury and repair, signal transduction by cytokines, oncogenes, lipid mediators, antigen-presenting cells, collectins, apoptosis, phagocytosis and genetic variation in complex lung diseases. Translational research programs focus on the pathogenesis of asthma, COPD, pulmonary fibrosis and cancer. Our research programs are supported by grants from a number of federal and non-federal agencies, most prominently the National Institutes of Health, and by state-of-the-art core resources.
