Department Chairman

We are fully devoted to research focused on molecular mechanisms operative in the immune system. The department is internationally recognized for its research productivity and teaching, and enjoys a rich history of discovery in many aspects of immunology.

It is unique in being composed of faculty from both National Jewish Health and the University of Colorado School of Medicine, whose laboratories occupy adjacent space at National Jewish Health. The success of the Department results in part from its physical location at National Jewish Health where opportunities exists for close collaboration with clinicians and scientists whose interests lie translational of discovery to the bedside.

The long-term goals of the Department include sustaining excellence in basic science research and training, and translating discoveries to the clinic.

Research

The Integrated Department of Immunology is fully devoted to research focused on molecular mechanisms operative in the immune system. Members of the Department study questions as diverse as how the immune system is able to discriminate between self and non-self thus avoiding autoimmunity to the basis of immunosenescence.
