I have worked at NJH for 9 years; first as an intern and in May 2006 as an SLP. I worked at the National Center for Voice and Speech from 2004-2012 as a research assistant in the beginning and then as a Reserarch Coordinatorand Associate from 2006-2012. Beginning in 2009 I was Faculty at University of Colorado Boulder for this work.
I worked on multiple NIH funded grants investigating the LSVT LOUD voice treatment during this tenure. I continue to work as a consultant to LSVT Global providing consulting services acting as an expert clinician, training and certifying other SLPS in LSVT LOUD, maintaining IRB approval and standards for continuing data analysis, and presenting webinars to certified therapists.
My areas of interest are the diagnosis and treatment of dysphagia, Paradoxical Vocal Fold Motion/PVFM, chronic cough, voice disorders (physiologic, neurogenic, and functional), and LSVT LOUD (which I am certified in).
I've presented on PVFM/VCD and chronic cough to graduate students at CU and UNC, nurses and allied health professionals at the Allied Health Conference, and to physicians and other medical staff at the American Thoracic Society meeting in 2010 and to Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, WY.
I went to Indiana University for a BA in Psychology. Graduate work for my MA in Speech, Language and Hearing Science is from University of Colorado Boulder. I published a chapter on speech therapy for PVFM/VCD and cough, "Speech Therapy for the Treatment of Functional Respiratory Disorder" for the medical textbook Functional Respiratory Disorders: When Respiratory Symptoms Do not Respond to Pulmonary Treatment. 2012.
