This research study is for 12-40 year olds. The study is being conducted by the Consortium of Food Allergy Research (CoFAR) which is funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), a component of the National Institutes of Health.
What does the study entail?
Participation includes receiving daily doses of an investigational treatment (peanut extract or placebo), skin testing, blood tests, doctor supervised feeding tests. The study lasts approximately 3 years.
The goal of the study is to determine if by taking the peanut product, the participant may be able to eat peanut without developing an allergic reaction.
Who qualifies for the study?
Able to make multiple visits to the clinic
No glycerin or oat flour allergy
No chronic disease requiring therapy such as, heart disease, diabetes, etc. other than asthma, atopic dermatitis, rhinitis.
No participation in any study to treat food allergy in the past 12 months
No severe asthma
No investigational drug use within 90 days and no plan to use investigational drug during the study period
