A real-world study to determine the effects of supplemental oxygen on outcomes meaningful to patients with pulmonary fibrosis (PF)

Trial Objective:

The purpose of this study is to find out whether supplemental oxygen makes people with PF feel and function better.

You may be asked to participate in one or more parts of the study.
 
Regardless of how you participate, you will be given a unique identifier, so we don’t have to use your name (or other private information) and can keep identifying information private

  1. If you use supplemental oxygen during the day (all the time or just with exertion), the extent of your participation will be one, 30-minute telephone interview
  2. If you do not use supplemental oxygen at all during the day, we will collect data from you at four times
    1. at time of enrollment
    2. immediately before oxygen is prescribed for use during the day c) 1 month after oxygen is prescribed for use during the day
    3. 9-12 months later
  3. If you are a primary supporter/caregiver of someone living with PF, the extent of your participation will be one, 30-minute telephone interview
  4. If you are a prescriber of supplemental oxygen to PF patients, the extent of your participation will be one, 30-minute telephone interview

Who Can Participate:

Qualifications include the following:

  • Anyone with PF
    • regardless of cause
    • aged 18-105 years
    • who speaks, reads, and writes in English
    • and meets certain requirements based on prior breathing tests
  • Any 18-105 year-old who speaks and reads in English and is a primary supporter/caregiver (i.e. spouse, child, etc.) of a PF patient 
  • Any physician who speaks and reads in English and prescribes oxygen to a PF patient
